Pretrial Reliability Hearings

SImilarly to discovery and disclosure, reliability hearings are a presentation of the path that was taken and the rewards and incentives that were offered to a witness to the judge so that it can be decided whether or not the evidence should be admitted into court at all.  This also is a check in the reliability of the evidence and makes it so that blatantly false and seemingly fabricated testimony is tossed out.
